Depression Sucks

Who ever said time heals all wounds I would have to disagree. What about the scars that you can't see yet don't hurt any less.Words can hurt just as much as a punch.I had so many good meaning people say hang on it gets better(yet does it).If you ask me no.Sure I can paste on a smile and act the part of a happy individual yet that's all it is an act.Medicine is okay yet when it wears of the pain and sadness come back.My mind is so tired yet I can't sleep.Days seem longer when your depressed with and endless supply of nothingness and feeling lost.

Sending Light and Hope. Been there, with unipolar depression. Not sure what other tools you're using besides meds (mediation, yoga, other exercise, etc.). I also understand that even taking a baby step to do any of that is well-nigh impossible.

I think that when you have a mental illness you always have it--though it *can* be in remission, IMO. But it's still there. I don't think there's a "cure," and no, life doesn't always "get better." It can be managed well, I do believe, but the endless struggle can wear a person down.

If you're not talking to someone, even a good friend who understands, please, please do. Better yet, look on-line for a support group if an in-person one isn't your thing. Something to help you through this.

Wishing you Blessings, strength, and hope, hope, hope.

Depression can be a family thing, too! I remember my mother struggling with it when i was little. My sister, my daughter and I all struggle with it. The right medicine will help, but it may take a few changes to find the right one. There are days when all I want to do is sleep. It does not help, but at least I am not crying. I agree that a good friend or support group helps.

We are frightened for you, and wish we lived closer as having a fellow cat lover right there might help. Our Teri has been seeing a therapist for her depression for a just over a year now and while she feels better, and isn't on any medication, she knows from talking to her therapist that medication alone can't heal someone with the heart that aches...

Heart aches can be full pain. Time might can't heal you. But meditation might help for your depression. To see therapist could be a good idea for you too.
Purrs for you and please take care

What you said was true.
Mom went through one terrible time of depression and she only saw darkness. Itr was very scary. She doesn't know why that one day it ended, well I guess she does, she finally got over the fact that the person she thought was the only one in the whole wide world for her (wasn't)...and then things started getting better.
But while in the midst of the deep depression she could not help those awful feelings.
We hope that you will continue with what you are doing and also seek out someone who can help you.
Remember that all of us only have this moment, and it is this moment you have to be in. WE do know how hard it is to stay in the moment, sometimes we wish we were more like our kitties who have that aspect down pat.
WE will continue to hold you in our prayers.

I do not believe time heals all things. It does, however, round off the sharp edges. I do not suffer from depression, but I understand that it can be a very debilitating condition ,and a good many people suffer.
As I see from the comments, you are not alone in the Cat Blogosphere.
I do hope you have a good doctor and supportive friends that can help..
The best I can do is offer you a virtual HUG :)
I will send you positive vibes and keep you in my prayers.
Hugs,Nancy

I'm so sorry you are going through this. Do reach out and get help. Continuously. It really does make all the difference to find the right doctor, the right meds and the right support group.

Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia and a few other mental illness names have been diagnosed in my family for at least 4 generations that I know of, as well as ADHD, Autism and Asperger's. My niece, who will be entering her senior year in college before applying for law school, is currently in denial about her Bipolar Disorder and refuses any treatment whatsoever. (You know, since she doesn't have it and all.) It drive her mother nuts, for lack of a better word at 6:50 in the morning.

Keep up the good fight. It is worth it!
